FAQ

Question: What is therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to better understand your experiences, emotions, and goals. It’s a space to be supported, challenged, and heard — without judgment. Whether you're processing trauma, improving communication, or navigating parenting stress, therapy can offer insight, healing, and practical tools to help you move forward.

Question: What if we are not a good match?

A strong therapeutic relationship is essential to effective therapy. If at any point it feels like we’re not the right fit, I’ll support you in finding someone who may be a better match for your needs. My goal is always for you to receive the care and connection that helps you thrive.

Question: How much does therapy cost?

My standard fee is between $275 and $300 per session depending on modality. I understand that therapy is an important investment, and I want to make it as accessible as possible. For clients who are unable to pay the full fee, I reserve a limited number of reduced-fee slots at $200 per session. These slots are offered on a first-come basis and may not always be available. Please feel free to ask me about current availability. For in-home services, an additional travel fee will apply. Travel fees vary based on location and will be discussed with you prior to scheduling.

Question: How do I know therapy is working?

Progress in therapy looks different for everyone. Some signs it’s working might include feeling more emotionally regulated, responding to stress differently, noticing patterns in your relationships, or feeling more connected to your values. I’ll check in with you regularly so we can reflect on your goals and celebrate progress, even the small steps forward.

Question: Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a “superbill” - a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance company to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Question: How long will I be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the issues you’re addressing. Some clients come for short-term support around a specific challenge, while others engage in longer-term work. We’ll collaborate regularly to review progress and make sure therapy continues to meet your needs.

Question: Does teletherapy work for kids?

Yes, when approached thoughtfully, teletherapy can be highly effective for children. I adapt my approach to each child’s age and needs, often involving caregivers in sessions (especially for young children). For toddlers and preschoolers, I often use parent coaching models like PCIT to help you learn skills that you can implement in real-time with support and guidance.

Question: What ages do you work with?

I work with children as young as infancy through adolescence, as well as adults and couples. For young children, therapy often involves caregivers as essential partners in the process.

Question: What if I’m not sure I’m ready?

That’s okay. Reaching out can be the hardest part. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions and get a feel for what working together might be like — no pressure or commitment.
